Discovering the unknowns, part 2
Begin your search in Graph using any Dataset. In this example we will be starting with the News Dataset.
News → Graph: Select Tags in Pivot 1 to visually explore connections between significant and frequent topics found in your search results.
Hover over the Legend to reveal co-occurrences between results, and increase or decrease Edge Visibility to darken or lighten connecting lines.
Select a node to explore specific connections related to that topic and your search query.
Did you know? When you select a node in the Network Graph, it is applied as a filter to your search.
Select the Pivot 2 dropdown to add an input. In this example we will be selecting Companies Mentioned.
Here we see some of the companies mentioned in the news for wearable sensors and multiple sclerosis.
Scroll below the Graph to review the individual results generating the connections above.
Using the left sidebar, we can identify and select which Datasets have results matching our search criteria and applied filters.
Notice, in this example there are seven patents matching our search criteria. Let's explore those using Analytics.
Patents → Analytics → Heatmap (default): Select Tags in Row 1 and Assignee Name in Row 2 to see which companies are patenting technology within each Tag segment.
In Columns, select Forward Citation Count or Family Size to gain a better understanding for the strength of the patented technology.
Select the area on the Heatmap that you want to explore in more detail. Now try adding a keyword you discovered to your search string.
Continue navigating across Datasets with results matching your criteria to further investigate.
